Information Systems Manager - Madison, WI

Scope of Position

Position reports to the CFO. Provides overall direction, coordination, maintenance and supervision of Corporate Information Systems (IS), software, hardware and IS staff to support the goals and on-going operation of the Company. Areas reporting to this position include IS Support person.

Basic Function

Provide the day-to-day direction, for our IS function. Ensure cost effective and efficient operation of IS department. Directly participate in duties and responsibilities performed by departmental staff as may be required.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides direct supervision, training/development, handle departmental personnel issues, corrective action and timely performance evaluation for assigned personnel. Hire and orient new employees.
  2. Inform CFO of pertinent issues, information, etc. warranting their knowledge, action and/or resolution.
  3. Responsible for IS Project Management functions to ensure cost effective and timely implementation of IS goals, objectives and projects.
  4. Has direct responsibility for Network Administration.
  5. Recommends direction that our Company needs to take in the IS function to achieve and maintain Corporate Strategic Plan. This includes leasing, application, hardware and software analysis and recommendation and development of departmental budget.
  6. Provide evaluation of system workflow and make recommendations on efficiency gains.
  7. Ensure that proper documentation of programs and IS procedures are implemented and maintained.
  8. Develop, implement and maintain IT Disaster Recovery Plan, and Cyber Security Plan.
  9. Work effectively with all functional areas in development and implementation of information systems to best meet departmental needs within established corporate goals and objectives.
  10. Develop procedures to ensure adequate backup of all corporate IS systems.
  11. Assist in developing, monitoring and enforcing IS Policies and Procedures throughout the Company.
  12. Coordinate use of and works effectively with external IS consultants as approved. Reviews and is responsible for all service agreements and contracts associated with outside vendors/consultants.
  13. Works with HR Director to review and approve all IS training requests/needs for the Company. This includes all departments and company personnel prior to training taking place. Negotiates purchase of such training when required.
  14. Reviews and approves all IS systems, equipment, supplies, software purchases or implementation for the Company. Ensures proper licensing of software is audited and maintained. Negotiates purchase of such items when required.
  15. Review, analyze, and maintain local, long distance, and cell phone carriers and related contracts.
  16. Responsible for TSI website, TSI e-sales system, and Internet system.
  17. Assist CFO with special projects and adhoc reports.
  18. Promotes and maintains a flexible cooperative, positive, team oriented attitude with and between departments and end users.
  19. Ensures timely, accurate, proper records, files, databases, etc. are developed and maintained for assigned areas of responsibility.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements / Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IS field desired, with 8 plus years of experience working in IS.
  2. Possess a broad base of experience in IS field involving the essential functions above. This includes but is not limited to hardware, software, networks, PC’s, and programming.
  3. Able to troubleshoot hardware, software, network problems and determine appropriate course of action.
  4. Able to work effectively and positively within a fast paced, varied and changing demand environment while maintaining a positive service and employee oriented attitude.
  5. Excellent organization, problem solving, team building, human relations, detail orientation, communication and follow through skills.
  6. Able to formulate and effectively administer strategic IS plans.
  7. Previous supervisory experience within an IS environment desired.

Equipment / Tools Operated

Proficient skill in operation of standard office equipment such as fax, multi-phone line equipment, PC and their related equipment, copy machine, and printers. Able to use advanced PC related tools.
