Inside Sales or Counter - Madison

Scope of Position

Reporting to the Inside Sales Manager; performs customer service support functions of a varied nature. Has the ability to fill in for the Counter or Inside Sales function on a day-to-day basis as required.

Basic Function

Performs direct customer service and sales functions; related record keeping and file management for assigned customer base within the scope of responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  1. Receive incoming customer phone calls and walk in traffic.
  2. Prepare and enter orders.
  3. Assist customers in identifying proper parts, equipment, and supplies; quote pricing and availability.
  4. Backup for inside and counter sales in other areas.
  5. Research parts to stock on new equipment.
  6. Provide solutions to customer requests, including research of the requests and suggest options to customers.
  7. Troubleshoot inventory and shipping problems.
  8. Follow up with vendors or purchasing department to monitor back orders to determine status.
  9. Coordinate delivery schedules between company and customer.
  10. Resolve customer complaints.
  11. Maintain working knowledge of product lines stocked by TSI.
  12. Proactively promote additional sales to customers.
  13. Maintain showroom by stocking shelves, showcasing new product, as well as straightening and keeping area clean.
  14. Responsible for after hours calls on rotating schedule.
  15. Promotes and maintains a flexible cooperative, positive, team oriented attitude with and between departments and end users.
  16. Ensures timely, accurate, proper records, files, data bases, etc. are developed and maintained for assigned areas of responsibility.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements / Skills

  1. High School diploma and 3-4 years experience in HVAC preferably in a customer service environment.
  2. Excellent communication, organization, customer service, problem solving and follow through skills.
  3. Proficient clerical skill in typing, basic math computation, data entry, PC and related software application.
  4. Able to work in a fast paced, varied/changing priority and stressful environment.

Equipment / Tools Operated

Proficient skill in operation of standard office equipment such as fax, multi-phone line equipment, PC and their related equipment, copy machine, calculator, printers, mail related equipment.  Able to use basic PC related tools.
